More on RFID Tag Localization

Last Wed., we conducted a series of tests involving new methods for RFID tag localization. I will be processing the data within the next week.

Thought it is far to early to draw any conclusions, I think there are some solid ideas that have surfaced regarding this technologically challenging issue.

In many ways, a new approach to tag localization might open wider opportunities to apply RFID in various automated systems including robotics.

The next paper that I write will be on the results of the experiment, and the potential to apply a new, simple technique for RFID tag localization.

In general, MIT Auto-ID Labs is undertaking a number of initiatives to increase the usefulness of RFID in practice. I very much believe that the work done 2003 to current in establishing the EPCglobal Network through GS1 will be essential infrastructure in the next generation of Internet applications.
