Though I am not an expert in Prof. Riggs' research, what I find interesting is that he puts forth that the traditional and modern can co-exist in a developing society.
I think Prof. Riggs was perhaps influenced deeply by his upbringing in China and his university education there for two years.
His insights I see in today's China as the country embraces industrial society.
Sometimes we overlook older research. I think it is profoundly important to re review what has been done in the past. When I do, I always draw even deeper insights.
