Overall, I think more companies will consider the food and agricultural industry as a future investment. The fundamentals look good in several different sub areas.
At MIT we have an active program in agriculture through several different research groups. Since 2007 the MIT Field Intelligence Lab, under the leadership of Prof. Sanjay Sarma, has been investigating a wide range of agricultural topics. One of the underlying premises of the lab is that a new discipline will emerge that unifies agriculture, water, and energy research.
The new lab website will be active soon. Below is the logo.
