Egypt

Though it is far too early to know the outcome of the events in Egypt, it is clear that a large segment of society wants more freedom in their lives. If a new government is formed, it might be a democracy based on Islamist Law, or it could take some other form. In any case, folks want a voice in the government. This is the American model and it works quite well over time. Other Middle Eastern countries will experience similar pressures. There is no doubt that massive change will happen. I think the Internet, in various ways, is the main driver of the change.

On the other hand, in spite of its economic success, I do not sense that countries undergoing political change want the Chinese form of government as a model. This sends a strong message not only to China but the world!
