A Great Book about Japan

I very much recommend this book for those with an interest in the unique culture of Japan:

Nakane, Chie, 1972. Japanese Society. Berkeley: University of California Press.

I plan to re-read the book as it is perhaps the authoritative description of Japanese culture.

As Japan undergoes extreme economic stress, I think the deep seated cultural values will play a major role in how the country responds.
