I notice that Japanese equity markets have taken a large drop of about 1.3% at open. This might because of apparent political turmoil or the hardening situation in Libya.
I understand there is a political scandal developing in Japan that involves particularly sensitive issues.
Though the situation in Libya is not clear, there is a chance of a protracted civil war. This cannot be a good thing for the Middle East and raises the chances of insurrection in Saudi Arabia.
Oil prices might continue to climb, strangling global economic growth.
